NARROWAY COLLECTIVE
Proverbs 1:20-23 is one of the most striking passages in the wisdom literature: wisdom is personified as a woman crying out in the city squares, raising her voice in the markets, calling out to the simple and the scoffers with urgency. This is not wisdom as a quiet library concept. It is wisdom as a street preacher, pleading with people who are about to make terrible decisions.
"Wisdom Cries Out" opens the NARROWAY Proverbs Project with this personified voice of wisdom, setting Proverbs 1 to a neo-soul groove that carries both the urgency and the beauty of the original. The song asks the same question the passage asks: how long will the simple love being naive? The call is real and the invitation is genuine.
The Proverbs Project as a whole attempts to bring the full wisdom curriculum of Proverbs into contemporary music. From the fear of Yahweh as the beginning of knowledge to the good name that is worth more than gold, these songs cover the territory of a life built on the right foundation.
